SUMMARY:The Aspen Gay Ski Week
DESCRIPTION:Aspen Gay Ski Week is one of the premier LGBTQ+ ski events in the world\, held annually in Aspen\, Colorado\, typically in January. The event has become a major celebration of both skiing and LGBTQ+ culture\, attracting thousands of attendees from all over the world. It combines the allure of Aspen’s world-class ski resorts with a fun\, inclusive\, and vibrant party atmosphere. \nHere’s a breakdown of what makes Aspen Gay Ski Week unique: \n1. Skiing and Snowboarding\nThe core of the event is\, of course\, skiing and snowboarding. Aspen boasts some of the best ski slopes in North America\, and Gay Ski Week takes full advantage of the area’s four mountains: Aspen Mountain\, Snowmass\, Aspen Highlands\, and Buttermilk. Participants can hit the slopes by day and join events at the après-ski scene in the afternoons and evenings. Some years\, special ski races or group ski activities are organized as part of the event. \n2. Parties and Social Events\nAspen Gay Ski Week is as much about the social scene as it is about skiing. Every night\, a wide variety of events include parties\, DJ sets\, themed nights\, and gatherings at different venues throughout the town. Popular hotspots include the Wheeler Opera House\, The Aspen Gay Ski Week Main Event\, and Drag Bingo. The social aspect is central to the event\, with plenty of opportunities for mingling\, meeting new people\, and making connections within the LGBTQ+ community. \n3. Drag Shows and Entertainment\nDrag performances are a hallmark of Aspen Gay Ski Week\, and the town’s vibrant LGBTQ+ scene is often brought to life through high-energy drag shows. These performances usually take place in the evenings and are a fan favorite. Events like Drag Bingo and Drag Brunch add an extra flair to the week\, offering humor\, spectacle\, and fun. \n4. Charity Events\nAspen Gay Ski Week is also known for its charitable efforts\, with several fundraising events that support LGBTQ+ causes and organizations. A portion of the proceeds from some events often go to charity\, including causes that focus on LGBTQ+ rights\, mental health\, and HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention. \n5. Socializing and Community Spirit\nOne of the defining features of Aspen Gay Ski Week is the inclusive\, open-armed spirit that permeates the event. Whether you’re a seasoned skier or a beginner\, the event is designed to create a sense of camaraderie and community among participants. Many people return year after year\, creating a close-knit and welcoming environment. \n6. Fashion and Style\nAspen itself is known for its high-end fashion\, and Aspen Gay Ski Week is no exception. The event attracts a stylish crowd\, with many guests dressing to impress on and off the slopes. The après-ski parties often see people showcasing chic mountain style\, and some special events may even feature fashion shows. \n7. LGBTQ+ Inclusivity\nAspen Gay Ski Week is one of the longest-running and most inclusive LGBTQ+ ski events in the world. It provides a safe and supportive space for individuals of all sexual orientations and gender identities\, making it a pivotal moment in the broader calendar of LGBTQ+ events. The event is open to everyone\, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity\, and it’s a space that encourages diversity and acceptance. \n8. The Town of Aspen\nThe picturesque town of Aspen provides a stunning backdrop for the event with its upscale shops\, cozy restaurants\, and luxurious hotels. The entire town comes alive with LGBTQ+ pride this week\, and it’s common to see rainbow flags and colorful décor throughout the streets. \nKey Highlights:\n\nDates: Usually held during the second week of January.\nSkiing/Snowboarding: Daytime activities on the slopes of Aspen’s four mountains.\nAprès-ski parties and themed events: Evening activities\, including galas\, parties\, drag shows\, and more.\nCharity fundraising: Proceeds from certain events benefit LGBTQ+ causes.\nCommunity vibe: Inclusive\, welcoming\, and fun atmosphere for all participants.\nCelebrity appearances: Occasionally\, Aspen Gay Ski Week attracts notable personalities from the LGBTQ+ community\, though the main focus is on inclusivity and community fun.\n\nFor LGBTQ+ skiers\, snowboarders\, and partygoers\, Aspen Gay Ski Week is a must-attend event. It combines the thrill of skiing in one of the world’s most beautiful mountain towns with the joy of celebrating LGBTQ+ culture in a fun\, festive\, and inclusive environment.

SUMMARY:u̶n̶ity of america - listen street art
DESCRIPTION:CALIFORNIA-BASED STREET ARTIST\, LISTEN\, DEBUTS THEIR WORK IN COLLABORATION WITH ARTSY x THESTYLEGUYDE GALLERY \nThe Anonymous Artist Will Display Their Politically-Driven Art for the First Time \nLos Angeles\, CA\, May\, 5th 2021 — From May 5th through May 19th\, 2021\, anonymous street artist\, Listen Street Art will debut his work in Santa Monica in collaboration with Artsy x TheStyleGuide Gallery. Curated by Steve Galindo\, the artist’s debut will showcase 18 of their canvas pieces. The gallery will be open from 10am – 6pm at 1403 Montana Ave. Santa Monica\, CA. Listen’s canvas pieces are conversation starters about America that bring everyday materials to life\, his most common mediums being spray paint\, acrylic\, resin\, glue\, paper\, and caulking. \nFor over two decades\, Los Angeles-based Listen has been anonymously creating compelling street art for any passersby to enjoy. Their stenciled work shows up wherever there might be a good surf break\, an empty wall or crevice\, or bus bench ads and billboards. Listen’s distinctive work heavily adorns wallscapes\, oftentimes temporarily\, across Los Angeles and beyond and is instantly recognizable by the style of graffiti and their culturally-driven subject matter that often calls to politics and societal issues. \nIn 2019\, Listen began creating large canvases inspired by the current events of a deteriorating political climate. At first glance\, Listen’s canvases appear to be vibrant pop-inflected works\, yet they call sharp attention to the issues plaguing society today. Listen’s recent pieces are political satire in nature but ultimately offer a sense of hope and change. \nListen’s work will be displayed early through mid-May in Santa Monica in collaboration with ARTSY x THESTYLEGUYDE GALLERY. In the spirit of collaboration with emerging artists\, Curator Steve Galindo presents Listen Street Art under a grant for Emerging Black Galleries. Galindo gained recognition from the platform with his curation during the pandemic on black male identity with Sage Gallon\, an American Contemporary painter\, photographer\, and recording artist. Galindo is focused on uniting communities through the Language of Art Photography\, Mixed Media Manipulation\, Painting\, and Sculpture in hopes of driving conversation of change for marginal communities including\, but not limited to\, BIPOC and LGBTQ+ in Los Angeles. \n“Listen layers his artwork with sketching\, stenciling\, and spray paint techniques alongside ’90s and early 21st-century contemporary influences from school of thoughts that merge street and beach culture to create unique collectible masterpieces that contemplate the human condition\,” Steve Galindo remarked. \nListen will debut 8 canvas pieces of work starting May 5th. Listen’s canvas-style and street artwork can be found on Instagram @ListenStreetArt. More information on THESTYLEGUYDE X ARTSY can be found at https://www.artsy.net/thestyleguyde. \nAbout Artsy \nArtsy is the largest and leading global online marketplace for fine art.
